  • Brisbane-based with hybrid work on offer.

The Impact of the organisation

Wesley Research Institute is a leading not-for-profit organisation delivering high-impact health and medical research outcomes. Through world-class research programs and tailored services, they harness emerging opportunities and drive innovation in healthcare.

As the official research partner for UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ), they work with world-class hospitals and services across Queensland, ensuring their research is embedded in clinical care and community settings.

At Wesley Research Institute, you will join a purpose-driven team that is agile, curious, collaborative, and respectful, working together to transform lives through evidence-based innovation.

The Impact you will have in this role

As the Individual Giving & Marketing Manager, you will play a critical role in scaling the organisation’s fundraising efforts and strengthening awareness of their impact.

This role leads the strategic delivery of integrated campaigns across regular giving, donor acquisition, appeals, and digital fundraising. You will bring a data-led, supporter-centric approach to developing high-performing multi-channel campaigns, with a strong emphasis on digital engagement and content that connects.

This position also leads the Institute’s marketing and communications activity, shaping how we tell our story, promote our research and engage with key audiences including researchers, clinicians, patients and donors. You will work closely with internal teams to elevate researcher profiles and support the promotion of real-world impact through consistent and compelling brand storytelling.

This is a leadership role with both strategic and hands-on components, managing a small team and mentoring staff to deliver a seamless supporter experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of multi-channel individual giving campaigns, with a strong focus on regular giving and digital engagement.
  • Drive acquisition and retention through targeted email, social media, digital ads, and direct mail campaigns.
  • Enhance brand visibility, building public awareness of our research outcomes and researcher stories.
  • Develop compelling content that speaks to clinicians, patients, donors, and the wider public, translating complex science into inspiring narratives.
  • Champion donor-centric strategies, using data segmentation and CRM insights (Raiser’s Edge NXT) to personalise supporter journeys.
  • Oversee campaign delivery, from strategy and creative through to execution, evaluation, and optimisation.
  • Manage agency partners and internal teams, ensuring timely delivery, brand consistency, and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor the Marketing & Communications Specialist and Fundraising Coordinator to drive performance, creativity, and cohesion.
  • Support organisation-wide visibility, collaborating with researchers, clinicians, and patient ambassadors to share our story.

Skills and Experience

  • We are searching for a creative and analytical thinker with experience in delivering effective fundraising and marketing campaigns. You bring heart, hustle, and a clear understanding of how to grow engagement in a competitive not-for-profit landscape.
  • A track record of success in integrated marketing campaigns, individual giving, regular giving, or direct marketing.
  • Expertise in digital fundraising tools, CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred), and email platforms like Campaign Monitor.
  • Ability to craft audience-specific messaging and translate research and scientific insights into accessible, inspiring narratives for diverse stakeholders, from scientists and donors to patients and clinicians.
  • A supporter-centric mindset with insight into donor behaviour and journey mapping.
  • Experience managing teams, agencies, and suppliers to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Skilled in project management, multitasking, and delivering outcomes across multiple campaigns.
  • Strong data literacy with a focus on segmentation, testing, and optimisation.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • A passion for health, medical research, and making a positive difference in people’s lives.
