The Sisters of Charity Foundation is a progressive not-for-profit delivering life-changing support to people facing disadvantage, homelessness, injustice, and social isolation.

Established in 2000, the Foundation runs impactful programs including community grants, tertiary scholarships for young people from out-of-home care, support for people seeking asylum, and transitional housing for survivors of modern slavery.

The Impact You Will Have in This Role

The Fundraising and Development Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow fundraising income and foster long-term donor engagement.

Reporting to the CEO, this hands-on role will lead fundraising activity across multiple income streams, including major gifts, private ancillary funds, grants-trusts and foundations, bequests, workplace giving, and community partnerships. A key focus will be building strong, values-aligned relationships with individuals, foundations, and partners that enhance the Foundation’s reach and impact.

The role will also work closely with the Communications Manager to support the delivery of donor appeals and the growth of digital fundraising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow sustainable income
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, high-net-worth individuals, and philanthropic partners
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and PAFs
  • Lead on the grants program from prospect, application to acquittal
  • Oversee programs in gifts in wills, workplace giving, and regular giving
  • Deliver appeal campaigns and contribute to digital fundraising initiatives to expand supporter engagement
  • Support community fundraising initiatives from schools and local groups
  • Plan and support bespoke donor events that showcase the Foundation’s impact
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board to support donor engagement and fundraising governance and execute fundraising strategies to plan
  • Ensure fundraising activities are data-informed, compliant, and aligned with the organisation’s mission and brand
  • Oversee donor database management, including reporting, campaign analysis, and continuous improvement of CRM systems and processes
  • Manage and enhance the Foundation’s fundraising CRM, ensuring accurate data, reporting, and donor journey tracking

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in relationship fundraising and a proven ability to build trust-based, values-led relationships. We are searching for a candidate who is a strategic thinker and brings a practical, hands-on approach to achieving results.

  • Proven success in fundraising, philanthropy, and/or partnership development
  • Success creating tailored fundraising strategies and implementing a hands-on approach to achieve results
  • The ability to manage and nurture the donor pipeline and identify new opportunities across multiple fundraising channels including high value individual donors and philanthropic foundations
  • A background in managing a trust and foundations calendar from prospect development, written submission to reporting and acquittal
  • Strategic planning capabilities coupled with excellent project management skills, and the ability to report on progress and outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of engaging donors and stakeholders
  • Experience managing and leveraging fundraising CRMs (e.g. Salesforce), with strong attention to data integrity, reporting and donor insights
  • A genuine passion to make a significant impact across community programs delivering life-changing support to people facing disadvantage, homelessness, injustice, and social isolation across Australia.
