Community First Step is seeking a passionate and experienced Community and Clinical Practice Manager to step into this newly created role, supporting the delivery of community capacity-building and psychosocial services, and driving positive change across one of South West Sydney’s most vibrant and diverse communities.

The Impact of the Role

The Community and Clinical Practice Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of compassionate, community-led psychosocial services that support some of the most diverse, vibrant, and vulnerable communities in South West Sydney. This position offers the opportunity to lead with purpose, foster resilience, improve mental health and community wellbeing outcomes, and create environments where individuals and families can thrive.

Reporting to the Head of Community and Psychosocial Services, the manager will guide a multidisciplinary team in delivering trauma-informed, strengths-based interventions that reflect the values and lived experiences of CALD and First Nations communities. The role combines hands-on leadership with strategic influence, ensuring services are responsive, effective, embedded in good governance, and grounded in the voice of the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing inspirational leadership and clinical supervision to a team of practitioners, cultivating a culture of reflection, learning, and accountability
  • Developing and embedding best-practice care models focused on cultural safety, trauma-informed, equity, and client-centred support
  • Overseeing the implementation and continuous enhancement of programs across multiple funding streams, including Targeted Early Intervention
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with community organisations, health providers, and government agencies to enhance integration and collaboration
  • Contributing to business planning, program evaluations, and the development of evidence-informed services that deliver measurable impact

About You

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and compassionate leader with a strong foundation in community capacity-building, mental health and psychosocial support. You bring clinical expertise, cultural awareness, and a commitment to building inclusive, responsive services that empower individuals and communities.

You will have:

  • A Master’s degree or similar in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience delivering community programs that support children, young people, and families, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Proven experience providing clinical supervision and leading psychosocial support teams
  • A strong understanding of therapeutic frameworks relevant to working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Demonstrated experience conducting psychosocial assessments, developing support plans, and applying strengths-based, trauma-informed practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed organisational and energy management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands

You will also hold:

  • A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • A valid NSW Driver’s Licence
