Director (voluntary)

Access Health and Community

Directorship Description:

Access Health and Community (AccessHC) is a not for profit primary health service, with a 150 year history in community health. The AccessHC Board consists of eight Directors and has a vacancy for one additional Director. The current Chair is Mr John Michailidis. It meets monthly, on the first Tuesday of the month at 5pm at Richmond (currently by Zoom). It is an unpaid position. There are at least 10 meetings a year, with Board committees meeting at least quarterly.

AccessHC is seeking Directors with skills and experience to complement existing Board capabilities and guide the growth and development of the service. There is no prerequisite skill set but financial, government affairs or lived experience as a health consumer would be well considered. A genuine commitment to serving the needs of local community and to providing accessible health services for all is important.

Applications from our diverse community are encouraged.

Access Health and Community

Access Health and Community is a Primary Health Service and often the first contact with a community member. We ensure equity of access for all members of the community to an extensive range of clinical and social services. A patient-centred approach informs the model of care and services.

Our organisation serves the Cities of Boroondara, Manningham, Yarra as well as other parts of Eastern Melbourne. We have over 360 staff and see about 45,000 patients and clients across our many sites.

For more information, see: accesshc.org.au and www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuLAVODhrT4.

Our future plans centre around innovative and creative ways of meeting community health needs. Our clinics are staffed by a wide range of clinicians covering most primary health disciplines. We also have a health promotion team and a wide range of disease prevention programs. Our care philosophy is one of integrated care involving both clinical care and the promotion of healthy living. Community activities are an important part of our spectrum of services.
