About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our thriving community health care organisation and work within a truly supportive value based culture and engaged workforce at Access Health and Community. 

We are seeking a passionate AOD Senior Clinician to provide clinical leadership and supervision to our multidisciplinary AOD team. The underpinning service model utilises strengths-based, trauma-informed, client-centred and family inclusive approaches including interventions such as motivational interviewing, mindfulness and cognitive therapies to individuals, families and groups. 

The AOD Senior Clinician role requires a high level of skill in AOD assessment, treatment, risk management and education/secondary consultation. In addition to providing clinical services, the Senior Clinician role has dedicated time for clinical leadership and clinical supervision duties. 

AccessHC works in partnership with other community health and tertiary services to deliver our AOD services; the Senior Clinician will work collaboratively with the partner organisations to support referrals across our partnership, as well as internally within AccessHC.

What you will be doing

  • Delivery of high quality clinical assessment and treatment services to clients with alcohol and drug issues and other co-occurring complexities
  • Provision of clinical supervision to other practitioners in the team, including individual supervision and group/peer supervision sessions
  • Providing clinical leadership to the team with key involvement in the client allocation, risk review and discharge processes
  • Provision of secondary consultation and clinical risk management
  • Supporting the AOD Manager to lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure a high quality service delivery for clients and families

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in alcohol and other drugs, psychology, social work, family therapy, nursing or related field
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in therapeutic counselling interventions
  • Demonstrated experience in working with addiction/substance use in mental health/AOD settings for a minimum of 5 years
  • Demonstrated high level of skill in clinical risk assessment and management, including assessing for risk of suicide/self-harm, overdose, family violence and other risk domains
  • Recognised qualifications/training and demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision
  • Registered with AHPRA as a Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor – (Desirable)

  • Collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders and referrers to support care coordination and shared care practices

We have implemented a number of climate related initiatives, to reduce e-waste, by recycling old computers, monitors and ink cartridges and waste separation, and allocated a pin to print for all staff to reduce and cut down waste production and unnecessary printing.
