The opportunity

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys delivering excellent customer service while supporting the financial operations of a purpose-driven community service organisation. Access Health and Community is seeking an Accounts Officer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of accounts receivable and accounts payable services.

This position supports the organisation's commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and sustainable community health services by managing billing, invoicing, collections, reimbursements, and financial administration processes. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and within required timeframes.

This is a Permanent fulltime hybrid role based in Hawthorn reporting to the Finance Business Partnering Lead.

What you will be doing

As an Accounts Officer, your responsibilities will include:

Accounts Receivable

  • Complete fortnightly client billing and portal claiming within designated timeframes
  • Manage debtor collections and follow up outstanding accounts
  • Process and reconcile cash and cheque banking on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and distribute invoices for GP services and other organisational activities
  • Produce debtor reports and facilitate review meetings with operational teams
  • Manage Accounts Receivable enquiries and process payments over the phone

Accounts Payable

  • Assist with the end-to-end Accounts Payable function
  • Process supplier invoices and reimbursements accurately and efficiently
  • Complete petty cash reconciliations and employee reimbursements
  • Provide support and backup for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions as required

Financial Administration

  • Complete designated month-end finance tasks
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Support compliance with accounting standards, organisational policies, and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organisation
  • Respond professionally and promptly to finance-related enquiries.

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

  • Certificate In Bookkeeping
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or finance administration role
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Strong IT systems capability and proficiency in finance and business systems

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

Compliance Requirements:

  • National Police Check, Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia and a valid Driver’s Licence.
