JAS is a free service that supports young people & adults with cognitive impairment to exercise their rights when in contact with the NSW criminal justice system. With the generous support of our Volunteers, JAS works with people with cognitive impairment arising from intellectual disability, borderline intellectual function, acquired brain injury, alcohol and drug-related brain injury (including foetal alcohol spectrum disorder), autism spectrum disorder, or dementia.
We walk alongside victims, witnesses, suspects & defendants in all stages of the criminal justice process.

Working within a team, the candidate will allocate and prepare volunteer support persons to provide a quality support and advocacy service to people with cognitive impairment when they are involved in the criminal justice system as victims, witnesses, suspects and/or defendants.
The volunteer and administrative support officer will support administration volunteers to complete volunteer administration tasks state-wide in line with JAS guidelines.
The volunteer and administrative support officer will complete data entry for reporting to funding bodies, monitor progress and build positive relationships with JAS volunteers.
It is anticipated that this position will be in the Sydney region, although a regional base with some travel to Sydney may be possible for the right applicant.
