IDEAS (Information on Disability, Education & Awareness Services) supports people with disabilities Australia-wide by providing quality independent information through its websites, training, consulting, print publications and community events. There are more than 500,000 connections with our service each year.
Our advocacy service in Campbelltown, PossABLE Advocacy, is a successful and growing part of our organisation and we are seeking an experienced disability advocate to join our team. You will be required to provide advocacy support to individuals with disability, or groups, to promote and protect their human, legal and service user rights. Our advocacy approach is an issues-based model and therefore, it is important to build individual capacity, support client independence and develop self-advocacy skills. You will also work with local communities to promote and support the rights of people with disability.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing advocacy service, and work with a small, multi-disciplined and professional team making a contribution to the empowerment of people with disability.
This full-time position is based in Campbelltown, initially until December 2021 (with the possibility of extension). There will be some travel involved with this role and a work vehicle is made available for this. SCHADS Award provisions apply, with generous salary packaging available. Current Police (NDIS screening) and WWC checks will also be required.
If you would like to discuss this role further, please contact James Smith on 0447 190 341.
As a member-based organisation, led by people with disability, IDEAS encourages applications from people with disability.
