About Us

Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) is a leading finance provider for Indigenous Australians. We assist Indigenous Australians in owning their homes, growing their business, and partner and invest in their commercial ventures (including property, renewable energy and primary industries).

The Legal Services team is a multifaceted team that supports IBA in its vision for a nation where First Australians are economically independent and integral to the economy. We’re interested in hearing from a range of candidates from the Lawyer level through to the Special Counsel level who are keen to join us as our organisation continues to grow and expand.

Your Role

Working in a fast-paced environment, with the support of IBA’s General Counsel and other lawyers, you will be trusted to provide internal stakeholders with practical legal advice and solutions to ensure compliance and manage legal risks.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking candidates at various levels of professional legal experience who will be a great fit for our amazing team culture and who are:

  • Experienced in one or more of the following areas: financial services, property law, employment law, mergers & acquisitions, renewable energy, administrative law.
  • Passionate about delivering high quality legal solutions that support First Nations communities and economic development.
  • Strategic thinkers with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communicators with attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Able to effectively work with internal clients and provide practical, commercial legal advice.
  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Able to work effectively in a high-volume environment and meet commercial deadlines.
  • Understanding and appreciation of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with the ability to communicate sensitively.

Qualifications & Experience

Tertiary qualification in law with at least three years’ post-admission experience. Prior corporate and commercial, transactional, financial services or government experience will be considered favourably.
