An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, driven and committed Youth Support Worker to join the Youth Engagement & Pathway Unit at Hume. The role sits in the Mental Health, Wellbeing & Leadership Team and is responsible for the delivery and evaluation of engagement, mental health, wellbeing, and leadership initiatives for young people aged 6 to 18 years, that are responsive, accessible and evidence informed.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, and skilled youth worker who has experience engaging young people face-to-face and online in partnership with schools and services, fostering effective partnerships, developing programs that respond to need; and assisting young people and families to navigate the service system to access support, resources and information.

The following skills and experience are required:

Key Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in the area of youth/social work/community services or a relevant formal qualification with relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating services, programs and events for young people including those from diverse backgrounds/identities.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of models of youth participation, strengths-based practice, community consultation and development.
  • Good project management skills, and effective organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve enhanced outcomes for young people and their families.
  • An understanding of risk management, child safe standards, ethical practice in youth work and working in a local government context.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
  • First Aid qualification to Level 2 or a willingness to undertake training.
  • A current driver's licence.
