We are looking for an experienced strategic leader to work closely with the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and the Senior Director, Partnerships, Projects and Education to oversee the strategic direction of the Commissions partnerships with Security Agencies.

The Senior Advisor works closely with the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and other Commissioners to provide strategic advice and a key focal point for leadership of Security Agencies with which the Commission partners. The position is located within the Partnerships, Projects and Education Division

This will be for an initial 12 month contract on a Part Time basis (0.8FTE) with the option to convert to an ongoing contract. There is possibility of conversion to a full-time role, however, the role is currently 0.8FTE.

This offers a competitive negotiable EL2+ base salary with additional 15.4% superannuation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Security Group Partnerships in meeting the strategic goals of the Commission and the priorities and needs of the individual partnerships
  • Provide support and development to Directors in the Security Group to enhance team leadership and strategic capabilities and support Security Group Directors in strategic engagement with senior level counterparts
  • Develop and maintain senior level relationships with counterparts in the Security Group Partnerships
  • Strengthen approaches to project design and delivery, impact measurement, knowledge management and learning across the Security Group
  • Provide advice and strategic support to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and the Senior Director, Partnerships, Projects and Education
  • Work with the Senior Director and SDC to brief the Chief Executive, and other senior executives in relation to the Security Group Partnerships outcomes and risks
  • Oversight and accountability for Security Group budgets, reporting and deliverables, ensuring resource allocation for timely, transparent and accountable delivery in line with partner priorities and Commission policies
  • Model and contribute to building a collaborative culture within the Security Group and with internal stakeholders across the Commission
  • Work in partnership with Commissioners and Commissioner teams to identify opportunities for deepening partnerships

What we're looking for:

  • Advanced strategic partnership development skills and experience in working with security agencies or similar on workplace reform
  • Advanced understanding of human rights-based approach to inclusion and diversity in security agencies
  • Experience in large scale institutional change programs either in direct delivery or supporting implementation in a partnership model
  • Ideally relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field including law and business, business and human rights, and workforce development
  • Develop team goals, strategies and work plans and ability to guide, mentor and develop people to enhance their skills and capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration, cooperation and internal partnerships
  • Negotiating persuasively and clearly, listening to audiences and adapting communication, addressing misunderstandings early and directly
