The Commission has a non-ongoing opportunity for 12 months (with possibility for extension) for an APS 6 Research & Engagement Officer to work in the Sydney office (remote and flexible working arrangements are available).

The position will support implementation of the Historical Disclosures of Workplace Sexual Harassment process (the Historical Disclosures Process). The Historical Disclosures process was a key recommendation from the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment and the Respect@Work Report.

Salary range $85,826-$98,079 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.

Skills & Experience

This role provides an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team to deliver the Historical Disclosures process. The successful applicant will work with the Respect@Work Implementation Team and the Sex Discrimination Team.

They will apply their community engagement, research, and social work/mental health (or similar) expertise to ensure the Historical Disclosures process is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, culturally safe, and considers the lived experience of victim-survivors of workplace sexual harassment, with a particular focus on culturally and racially marginalised workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Undertake research duties relating to workplace sexual harassment and the intersection of other forms of discrimination, such as gender, race, disability, age etc.
  2. Undertake field research including by leading focus groups, consultations, and interviews (some domestic travel will be required).
  3. Provide support and referrals to victim-survivors who are participating in the Historical Disclosures Process, such as conducting debriefs, checking in with participants, following-up with referral agencies.
  4. Provide advice and support to design a process which is trauma-informed, culturally safe and considers the lived experience of victim-survivors of workplace sexual harassment, with a particular focus on culturally and racially marginalised workers.
  5. Contribute to projects in accordance with decided goals, timelines, and budget, as directed.
  6. Maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including relevant community organisations, consultants, and Commission colleagues.
  7. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the Commission in the planning, administration and conduct of the team’s work and in the development and delivery of the Commission’s identified goals and priorities.
  8. Provide organisational and logistical support for activities conducted by the Historical Disclosures Team.
  9. Other duties consistent with the above as directed.
