about the position

The position will support implementation of the Historical Disclosures of Workplace Sexual Harassment process (the Historical Disclosures Process) which was a key recommendation from the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment and the Respect@Work Report.

The successful applicant will work as an APS Level 4 with the Respect@Work Implementation Team and the Sex Discrimination Team. They will apply their research, project support, and administration skills to ensure the Historical Disclosures process is seamless, trauma-informed, and considers the lived experience of victim-survivors of workplace sexual harassment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support research duties and data analysis relating to workplace sexual harassment and the intersection of other forms of discrimination, such as gender, race, disability, age etc.
  2. Coordinate field research activities, including by scheduling focus groups, consultations, and interviews, and organising travel bookings (some domestic travel may be required).
  3. Monitor the historical disclosures inbox and phones lines and liaise with victim-survivors by providing them with appropriate information about the process and provide appropriate referrals to alternate services when required.
  4. Contribute to project in accordance with decided goals, timelines, and budget, as directed.
  5. Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including relevant community organisations and consultants.
  6. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the Commission in the planning, administration and conduct of the team’s work and in the development and delivery of the Commission’s identified goals and priorities.
  7. Other duties consistent with the above as directed.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Demonstrated experience in a service role, providing information to First Nations and culturally and racially marginalised people, in a sensitive and culturally appropriate way.
  2. Understanding of, and/or experience with communities and individuals who face violence.
  3. Ability to support research and analysis of policy issues and contribute to preparing reports on project activities and milestones.
  4. Project experience from concept to delivery, including scheduling travel, or booking meetings and in a fast-paced environment.
  5. A strong demonstrated ability to work collegially and ways of working supportively in a team.
  6. Well-developed relationship management skills, with a capacity to ensure that various stakeholder interests are managed positively and professionally.
  7. Proficient computer skills including in using MS Office and SharePoint (or similar).
  8. The ability to travel domestically as required.
