Your New Organisation

DANA is the national representative body for a network of advocacy organisations throughout Australia. Its vision is to provide a collective voice on the value of independent advocacy to support and promote the rights of people living with disability. Its work includes the recent establishment the National Centre for Disability Advocacy, a resource centre supporting the independent advocacy sector.

Your New Role

This is a newly-created role and you will have the scope to make your mark, playing a vital role in supporting DANA’s advocacy and campaign activities and promoting the National Centre for Disability Advocacy. Working closely with the CEO, in this is a broad-ranging role where you turn your hand to all communications activity – from contributing to strategy, creating content, managing socials and responding to media enquiries. You will collaborate across DANA’s small team and externally with member organisations.

About You

This is the role for you if you are an experienced communications professional who enjoys the autonomy and variety of a small team environment. You bring relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in a similar role. You have a naturally collaborative style and enjoy interacting with a range of stakeholders. You are a skilled writer (with great attention to detail) and adept across the range of traditional and digital media. You have an understanding of disability and the sector or have the appetite to quickly get your head around it.

DANA operates on a remote working model so you will need to have suitable remote (home) facilities and the ability to stay focussed and motivated. You will be required to attend in-person meetings and events from time to time.
