  • Job Type: Fixed term role until July 2025 (with the possibility of extension), Up to 35 hours per week (min 4 days)
  • Location: HUB Community Legal, 79 Poinsettia Street, Inala QLD 4077 plus regular travel to courts or outreach locations in Ipswich, Brisbane, or Logan.
  • Reporting to: Principal Lawyer
  • Salary: Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 6, salary sacrificing available

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Generalist Lawyer will make a meaningful impact in our community, contributing to social justice through hands-on legal practice, education, advocacy and mentorship within our generalist legal practice. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in relevant areas of law (civil law, family law, and/or domestic and family violence). In this role you will:

  • Provide high quality legal information, advice, representation, & referral services within our generalist legal practice; participate as a duty lawyer in our domestic and family violence duty lawyer roster; and coordinate and supervise volunteer legal clinics. HUB’s legal services are delivered face to face, by phone, or at community-based outreach locations.
  • Assist in developing and delivering community legal education to diverse community groups and stakeholders.
  • Undertake law reform initiatives and make submissions related to our practice areas, contributing to positive change in social justice.
  • Take a leadership role in supervising and mentoring early career lawyers, law student volunteers, volunteer lawyers, paralegals and legal administrative staff.
