ABOUT THE ROLE
Position: Neighbourhood Centre Manager, HUB Neighbourhood Centre
Job Type: Part-time, temporary tenure, 30 hours per week, days and hours negotiable
Location: HUB Community Projects, 79 Poinsettia Street, Inala QLD 4077
Reporting to: Director
Direct Reports: Community Development Worker, Social Prescribing Link Worker, Neighbourhood Centre Program Volunteers
Duration: Temporary parental leave cover from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026, may be terminated earlier with 6 weeks notice.
Award & Classification: Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010, Classification Level 6. Salary sacrificing is available.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Neighbourhood Centre Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating and delivering high-quality community programs and activities that align with HUB’s purpose and values. This includes oversight of the neighbourhood centre’s day-to-day operations, community development work, volunteer engagement, and partnerships with local organisations. The role provides leadership and supervision to a small team and supports a welcoming, inclusive and responsive environment for the local community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead Neighbourhood Centre Programs & Staff:
- Provide day-to-day leadership of neighbourhood centre programs, ensuring activities are accessible, relevant, and community-led.
- Supervise and support the Community Development Worker and Social Prescribing Link Worker, ensuringalignment with strategic priorities and service outcomes.
- Manage recruitment, support, and coordination of neighbourhood centre volunteers.
- Oversee reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement of neighbourhood centre services and initiatives.
- Ensure safe, welcoming, and well-maintained neighbourhood centre facilities.
2. Strengthen Community Connection & Participation:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and local service providers.
- Identify emerging needs and gaps in service provision, and collaborate with others to address them.
- Support community-led initiatives and partnerships that enhance social connection, inclusion and wellbeing.
- Champion diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the centre’s work.
3. Partnerships & Advocacy:
- Represent HUB in relevant networks, community planning forums, and interagency collaborations.
- Advocate for systemic change and resources that benefit the community and support the work of the neighbourhood centre.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, state and federal government stakeholders, funders, and partner organisations.
4. Strategic & Operational Planning:
- Contribute to strategic planning, funding applications and service development for the neighbourhood centre.
- Monitor budget and resource allocation for the neighbourhood centre program.
- Ensure data collection and reporting meets funder and organisational requirements.
ORGANISATIONAL AND TEAM CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Compliance: Comply with the rules and requirements of relevant legal profession legislation, the Community Legal Centre’s Risk Management Guide, and organisational policies and procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including data collection, electronic files, and other essential documentation. Prepare case studies and reports for funding bodies as required by the Program Manager or Director.
- Collaboration & Communication: Actively contribute to a collaborative, supportive, and productive team environment through participation in professional development, supervision, staff/team meetings, operational planning, and our Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Participate in reporting, feedback mechanisms, and problem-solving initiatives to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
- Resource Management: Efficiently manage resources, including time, materials, and equipment, to optimise operational efficiency in a resource constrained setting. Proactively manage own workload.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of work quality, ensuring accuracy and consistency in provision of legal assistance, and promptly report any identified risk management issues.
- Health, Safety, and Wellbeing: Act in a safe manner and promote a safe and healthy work environment ,free from discrimination and harassment, by complying with work health and safety instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Proactively manage own self-care and workload.
- Organisational Culture: Embrace and actively promote the organisation's purpose and values in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders; foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Adherence to Deadlines: Manage tasks to meet established deadlines, ensuring timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Flexibility: Fulfil other duties as directed by the Program Manager or Director, contributing to the organisation’s ability to adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and requirements. Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Manual handling is an inherent physical requirement of working in this role. The position may require significant periods of standing, sustained hours of movement including lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, carrying, stretching, and tidying centres and spaces, and use of computers and office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS & BENEFITS
- Centre based work from our location in Inala plus occasional travel to external meetings

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualifications in social work, community development, human services, or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or managing community programs or services, with a strong understanding of place-based work and community-led practice.
- Proven ability to supervise staff and volunteers, including feedback and team development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across sectors and communities.
- Experience in partnership development, funding applications, and advocacy.
- Ability to manage budgets, service planning, and reporting requirements.
- Strong organisational skills and capacity to work independently and strategically in a dynamic environment.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current open driver’s license and own insured vehicle (mileage reimbursed for work-related travel).
- Positive Notice Blue Card for Child Related Employment (or ability to obtain).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general digital literacy.
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
