The Role

The Regular Giving and Donor Development Specialist reports to the Head of Retention, Regular and Mid-Level Giving. The role is responsible for driving regular donations from new and existing supporters and implementing innovative donor acquisition and retention strategies to support the ground-breaking cardiovascular research delivered at HRI. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues across the Development and Philanthropy and research teams to build a healthy pipeline of donors who make strong financial contribution to HRI over their lifetime.

In this role, you will implement regular giving growth strategies, plan donor journeys, and engineer plans to facilitate the retention of supporters for the long term. You will also implement initiatives in collaboration with your colleagues to convert donors from regular low-mid value supporters to high value major philanthropic supporters.

This role also involves the development and implementation of the regular Christmas and Tax Appeals, and the HRI lotteries program. You will work with your colleagues to deliver compelling campaigns that work effectively to build pipeline for regular gifts and that encourage generous gifts.

This is a full-time role based in Newtown. We are a nimble, diverse and flexible team.

Specific Responsibilities include

  • Support the delivery of the HRI Regular and Single giving programs.
  • Support the delivery of regular Appeals, identifying opportunities to bring innovative and compelling campaigns to market that break the mould and encourage generous gifts.
  • Prepare rigorous analysis and reporting, including data in relation to acquisition and retention, identifying opportunities to improve and elevate donor commitment and revenue over time.
  • Segment the database and develop compelling campaign platforms to drive revenue.
  • Develop and implement innovative and effective donor journeys and donor retention strategies.
  • Continually look for cost savings and opportunities to refine the programs you manage.
  • Work collaboratively with your colleagues to manage and inspire consultants and partner organisations to work effectively with HRI to acquire and retain donors, to reengage lapsed donor and uplift existing donors, and associated revenue.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant experience in a similar role or a revenue generating program.
  • Experience in managing and scaling regular giving programs.
  • The capacity to build strong relationships with your colleagues and donors.
  • The ability to problem solve, capacity to take calculated risks, meet deadlines, manage competing priorities and exercise initiative, all with a can-do attitude.
  • A strategic mind and the ability to develop and implement effective programs and retention strategies.
  • Experience in lead generation/acquisition and retention programs.
  • An analytical mind with the capacity to work with your colleagues in the Business Analytics and Data team to understand the data, identify insights and refine programs accordingly.
  • Highly motivated and organised, but also flexible and adaptable with an appetite for change and continual learning.
  • Resilience, a high level of emotional maturity and ability to adapt to change.
  • Align with HRI values of Excellence, Curiosity, Teamwork, Transparency and Inclusivity.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Marketing, Strategy and Creative Innovation or Arts would be highly regarded.
