Remote / Work from Home
Join a leading provider of community based integrative oncology care as one of our army of passionate volunteers. This one day per week, flexible hours role can be based anywhere with fast internet. Workload/ hours are negotiable - if the work is done in less than one day per week, no need to work every week.
Your role as an editor is to take on coordination of our printed volunteer wellness magazine, titled Thank You, which celebrates the work of our volunteers and is published quarterly.
You'll work closely with the Communications Lead and volunteer journalist, and will write stories collaboratively with volunteers based at the wellness centre and other sites, and source high resolution photographs. There will also be scope to pitch stories to media if this interests you (in-house training available).
The role commences 18 January 2022.
More than 400 active volunteers make Bloomhill the organisation it is. We support hundreds of people touched by cancer every week. We want a seasoned writer to capture volunteers' wins and help them celebrate. The mag also has a wellness focus and has had a few editions already - check it out here.
To be the right fit for this role you'll be sociable and interested, have skills in interviewing, typing and news writing/journalism. You'll also be able to spot/source a good photo.
You'll be familiar with devising content plans for print publications and working to deadlines.
You'll get to have all the fun of being part of a diverse organisation full of fascinating stories waiting to be gathered, but none of the stress of a newsroom.
If you are based locally on the Sunshine Coast photography skills would also be a bonus.
Bloomhill's Wellness Centre is on the Sunshine Coast - You are welcome to visit the beautiful Centre but need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and all preventable diseases to come on site. We support vulnerable immune compromised clients and maintain rigorous infection control measures at the wellness centre.
Bloomhill Cancer Care provides personalised support to those touched with cancer. Based on the Sunshine Coast, an hour north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia, the organisation was founded 24 years ago by volunteers. They continue to be its backbone, and do everything from maintaining the beautiful gardens in the forested sanctuary that surrounds our wellness centre, to coordinating the 10 op shops that provide 75% of our income. We are proudly independent and not-for-profit, thanks in large part to the work of our incredible volunteer teams.
Bloomhill offers a community-based, nurse-led model of care complementing conventional oncology. We provide allied health services, evidence-based therapies, group activities such as yoga and meditation, and so much more to help those diagnosed with cancer, their family, carers and loved ones.
