About the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation

More than just a football club, the Western Bulldogs has a long-standing history as the community club of the AFL. The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation is the club’s community arm that utilises the trusted brand of our football club to deliver life changing programs. At its’ core the Foundation delivers demonstrated impact in the areas of health and wellbeing, youth leadership, cultural diversity, social inclusion and community advocacy.

Across Melbourne and Victoria’s west, we reach over 20,000 community members each year including direct capacity building for over 4,000 participants in our targeted programs. This critical work is underpinned by a whole of Club commitment that is strongly supported by all three levels of government and a range of corporate and community partners. Our programs are independently and academically evaluated to ensure we meet the ever-changing needs of our community, and we are always evolving our content and delivery methods to be best practice.

Your contribution to the team includes

The role of the Ballarat Community and Programs Coordinator Position will involve supporting the coordination of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation programs in Ballarat including Youth Leadership Project (YLP), Sons of the West (SOTW), Daughters of the West (DOTW) men’s and women’s health programs and the Nallei Jerring Program, along with liaising with community to maintain strong connections. The role will be based between our Ballarat Office and Victoria University Whitten Oval (VUWO), with at least one day per week being based at VUWO.

This role is also responsible for:

WB Community Foundation Youth Program Support

  • Facilitating all Youth Leadership Project (YLP) program sessions across selected regional sites (Ararat, Pyrenees and Ballarat)
  • Facilitating fee-for-service school-based Leadership Programs
  • If Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander: Co-Facilitating Nallei Jerring Koori Youth Leadership Program at the Ballarat Site

WB Community Foundation Health and Wellbeing Program Support

  • Facilitating the Ballarat Sons and Daughters (SOTW/DOTW) of the West 10-week programs
  • Support the facilitation of Best on Ground in Ballarat and surrounds
  • Support additional SOTW/DOTW programs in surrounding areas, which may include Horsham and Maryborough
  • Coordinating local guest speakers to deliver expert content

WB Community Foundation Engagement Program Support

  • Supporting the delivery of Welcome Round and Anti-Racism Workshops
  • Engagement with local sporting clubs in regional Victoria areas (in collaboration with Campbell - WB Staff)
  • Lead the local promotion and registration of all WB Community Foundation programs in Ballarat and surrounds including exploring options for Ubora and CALDplay program delivery
  • Building relationships with Program Delivery Partners, volunteers and other key organisations
  • Building relationships with key organisations and stakeholders involved in Multicultural Communities in Ballarat and surrounds

WB Community Foundation Administration Support

  • Data entry and records management
  • Development of program material
  • Phone and email correspondence with participants, families and stakeholders
  • Managing online registration processes
  • Assisting with program content planning
  • Sourcing or creating content for social media and WBCF websites
  • Helping deliver WBCF events such as game day events, key program graduations and other activations
  • Supporting the delivery of promotional and participant engagement events and initiatives
  • Identifying and assisting to mitigate risks to participants and the program

Skills and experience

  • Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Community Development, Youth Work and/or Health
  • Level 1 First Aid, Mental health First Aid and CPR
  • Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check required
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Knowledge and experience in community development, social work, youth work, multicultural affairs, health promotion or other health-related area
  • Working at Whitten Oval (Footscray) at least one-day per week
  • Demonstrated high level written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Program Design
  • Group Facilitation and/or Public Speaking
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, meet tight time frames, and to work with limited supervision
  • Time-Management
  • Ability to identify opportunities for social media and web content
  • Mentoring/Teaching
  • Strong networks and an understanding of the local Ballarat community landscape, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities in Victoria’s west, is desirable
