Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is dedicated to assisting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the four regions (Metropolitan, Northern, Southern and Western) of NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce enabling the ACCHSs to provide their local Aboriginal communities with holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care and Aboriginal health-related services.

About the Role:

As a Compliance Officer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design and deliver projects to support member services and strengthen their capacity to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in NSW. Informed by service member consultation, you will work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver specific projects in alignment with industry best practices to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities experienced by Aboriginal communities. You will work with a broad range of stakeholders to drive improvements in primary health care services, ensuring the individual needs of our communities are met.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work as part of a broader team to plan, implement and evaluate key projects.
  • Engage and support stakeholders to facilitate improvements in members’ communities.
  • Monitor, report and analyse the progress of project deliverables, including KPIs.
  • Identify relevant gaps within the sector for improvements in health promotion.
  • Promote workforce training, development and capacity strengthening in the ACCHS sector.
  • Provide members services guidance around the application of continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes to all aspects of health service delivery.
  • Provide training to member services in CQI and Medicare to ensure they have a clear understanding.
  • Support the Management Team and staff to identify opportunities for CQI activities.
  • Support the Management Team and staff to develop and implement CQI activity plans.
  • Analyse or provide assistance in data analysis and interpretation for population health monitoring, CQI activities or other organisational activities as requested for AH&MRC and our members services.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Relevant Tertiary Level Qualification or experience in a primary healthcare setting.
  • Recent experience in project delivery (preferably within the Health Sector).
  • Experience in community engagement (preferably health and or education).
  • Strong understanding of the primary health care sector including urban, rural and remote services, Aboriginal health and cross-cultural health service delivery.
  • Experience in service compliance and continuous quality improvement systems and processes.
  • Experience and knowledge working with people at all levels of the organisation as well as external groups including community groups and external agencies (preferably Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, customer advice and relationship building skills.
  • Sound negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • A passionate approach to work, empathic and has a stakeholder centric focus and ability to take initiative, learn and think creatively.
  • Ability to demonstrate position competencies as outlined above.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, and ability to implement compliance with health and safety legislation and all WHS policies and procedures.
  • Strong commitment to AH&MRC policy, procedures and systems, and ability to lead and implement compliance.
  • Current Criminal Record Check and a current Working with Children Check or proof of current application.

Salary Packaging options are available as a Not-For-Profit Organisation, as well as Meals & Entertainment and Leisure & lifestyle Cards.

Remuneration: The successful candidate will receive an annual remuneration of $90,000.00 gross per annum, plus Superannuation.

Paid Study Leave: Employees are entitled to Paid Study Leave for approved courses relevant to their role.
