HoMie

About us

HoMie is a Melbourne-based streetwear label and Social Enterprise. 100% of HoMie’s profits go towards achieving its mission: to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

Through our programs, HoMie supports young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with skills, confidence and experiences to be more work ready and better prepared for their future.

With an impact led approach HoMie has supported nearly 4000 young people through our programs. We have a strong organisation wide commitment to support young people to create meaningful, long-lasting change in their lives.

About the role

We are hiring two (2) Program Support Workers to support the delivery of the HoMie Retail Ready Program. Retail Ready is a 10 week paid employment program for young people to build foundational work readiness skills in a supportive environment. This role is Part-Time, 4 days per week (0.8).

The Program Support worker will be based at our Emporium Retail Store for the majority of their time and provide direct, consistent and tailored support to young people before, during and after their work shifts. They will at times work alongside the young people during their store shifts to support their Retail Training. During the program cycle, other responsibilities include running work readiness workshops, supporting employees onboarding, organising excursions, facilitating support plans, some case activities and building participant engagement.

The Program Support workers not only provide support to the young people, but the HoMie Retail team. The role includes consistent and tailored support to the Retail Store Managers who are implementing the program. This includes coaching on best approaches, facilitating performance review meetings and maintaining program processes in store.

The Program Support worker will also work collaboratively with Community Service Partners of Retail Ready. This includes close collaboration with young people's care teams/case managers and timely and professional handovers/ case noting.

Outside of the key responsibilities of Retail Ready, the role includes supporting the implementation of the HoMie VIP Program.

Throughout the year, we close the doors of our retail store to the public and invite young people affected by homelessness or hardship to be our VIP Shoppers. Young people shop for 5 free items of clothing, access hair and nail services, clothing customisation, self care packs and lunch. The role will support this program by supporting service delivery at the events.
