  • Contract Terms: 6-month maternity leave contract, with potential for ongoing opportunity
  • Salary: $95,000 FTE ($57,000 pro rata) + super + attractive salary packaging available
  • Location: Hybrid - WFH and Collingwood office

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Overseeing the finance functions of HoMie, the Finance Manager will play a significant role in the business operations. Key responsibilities include the preparation of monthly reports for key stakeholders and internal use, budgeting and forecasting particularly for our retail operations, and assisting staff with day-to-day finance matters. The Manager will work closely with the CEO and in conjunction with other team members as well as an external bookkeeper to improve the overall finance function of HoMie.

POSITION SUMMARY

Financial Management and Modelling:

  • Preparing and recommending HoMie’s annual budget and cash flow forecast to the Board and supporting senior staff to prepare and monitor their budgets on a monthly basis
  • Review monthly management reports from external bookkeepers/accountants and communicate these to staff, senior management, the Board and subcommittees
  • Working with our external bookkeepers and accountants regarding bookkeeping duties, including wages, reconciliations and approving AP on a weekly basis
  • Overseeing high-level banking matters and managing working capital

Compliance, Risk & Governance:

  • Overseeing the preparation of the annual Special Purpose Financial Report in accordance with accounting standards
  • Overseeing the annual audit, including providing information and resolving queries with our independent auditor
  • Preparing and filing the Annual Information Statement to the ACNC in accordance with ACNC requirements
  • Working with external bookkeepers to oversee the preparation and filing of Superannuation, BAS and IAS statements and any other statutory compliance documents
  • Monitoring HoMie’s financial governance and risk mitigation measures and communicating these to the Risk and Audit Subcommittee

Donors & Grants:

  • Supporting senior staff in the preparation of timely financial acquittals to donors in alignment with donor agreements and expectations
  • Monitoring and tracking grant funding expenditure to ensure this complies with requirements

Financial Upskilling & Support:

  • Upskilling and coaching senior staff and strengthening the financial literacy of the organisation
  • Being the general financial in-house contact for staff, Board and bookkeeper queries

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA/CA)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, XERO
  • Outstanding numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment and/or retail environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and sensitively to people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team operating in a complex environment.
