Youth Mentors - Sport and Social Programs (Voluntary)

Home Ground Hub

about us

We are Home Ground Hub, a community-focused initiative that provides sports and social services to the housing estate locals in the City of Yarra (Fitzroy, Richmond, Collingwood.) We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers like yourself to assist, mentor, and provide participation leadership at our weekly sports programs, quarterly tournaments and adventure camps.

At Home Ground Hub, we believe in the power of sports to foster a healthy lifestyle, promote team spirit, and provide valuable mentoring opportunities for the youth in our community. Our sports programs are designed to not only develop physical skills but also empower individuals to overcome challenges and build strong character.

about the opportunity

We are currently in need of volunteers to support the following sports programs:

  1. Challenge Cups: This program aims to encourage friendly competition and teamwork among participants. Volunteers will play a crucial role in organising and coordinating the matches, ensuring fair play and sportsmanship.
  2. Wild Beasts: Basketball club for the youth of the Yarra housing estates. The Beasts train regularly and compete in competitions locally and interstate. The girls recently won the South Sudanese Championship in Adelaide!
  3. Toolangi Adventure Sports Camps (TASC): TASC is an exciting program that offers participants the opportunity to engage in adventurous sports such as rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking. Volunteers will guide and supervise participants, ensuring their safety while creating a supportive and inclusive environment.

As a volunteer, you will have the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals in our community. Your role will involve mentoring participants, providing leadership during activities, and fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie.

Time required

Weekly programs take place between 5pm and 7pm on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. These are usually in younger and older age groups (5-6, 6-7pm) so if you can only make it later that still helps. The adventure camps are usually 2 days away and would involve staying at the camp and helping out the entire time.

to apply

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we kindly ask you to complete the application with your details. Upon receiving your application, we will carefully analyse your skills and preferences to assign you a suitable role within our sports programs.

We greatly appreciate your support and dedication towards our cause. Together, we can create a nurturing space for individuals to access various programs and resources, enhancing the overall well-being and cohesion of our community.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Peter at [email protected] using the subject line: Youth Mentors - Sport and Social Programs (Voluntary) enquiry via EthicalJobs if you have any questions or require further information.

We look forward to working with you and making a difference together.
