Holyoake is a leading provider of counselling and support services for people impacted directly and indirectly by alcohol, other drugs, and related mental health issues. We operate through five locations in Victoria Park, Midland, Northam, Narrogin and Merredin, and employ over 100 staff.

We are inviting applications from suitably experienced Support Workers to work within the Active Recovery Team on a full-time basis at our Victoria Park office. This is a great opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and review of the clients' recovery plan, which reflects their own personal, social and emotional wellbeing goals and aspirations.
  • Work with clients to implement strategies to support the achievement of recovery goals.
  • Provide coaching to develop and maintain recovery skills and personal capacity, including motivation, resilience and decision-making through individual and group work approaches.
  • Liaise with community service providers as required to mobilise psycho-social supports and resources in accordance with client needs.
  • Facilitate and encourage client participation in community-based activities to improve social engagement.
  • Encourage clients to make informed decisions and actively participate in discharge planning.
  • Maintains documentation and records to ensure accountability that complies with legal and policy requirements
  • Provide client transport as approved by the Clinical Care Coordinator and Line manager, in accordance with Holyoake policy.

Skills required:

  • Ability to manage relationships and establish boundaries.
  • The ability to demonstrate strategies for maintaining good emotional and physical wellbeing that can be shared.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with empathy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Ability to work within the Holyoake values and philosophy.
  • Undertakes training and professional development as required.
  • The ability / willingness to work with Microsoft Office software package including Word, Outlook and the relevant client database/s.

Criteria for successful applicants:

  • Completed or currently studying towards a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Understanding of the challenges and impact of AOD dependency and mental health issues.
  • Understanding of self-determination, Person Centred Care and the concept of consumer recovery.
  • Understanding of the mental health and AOD service systems.
  • National Police Clearance, no more than three months old
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence
