With over 85,000 registered users and support workers in communities all across Australia, Hireup is a national network of local supports. The Indigenous Engagement Lead is responsible for building meaningful connections with Indigenous communities across the country, so that we can help to ensure people living with disabilities have access to the supports they need. This role requires a passionate self-starter to initially build a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which will form the basis of our Indigenous Engagement Strategy at Hireup. You will work cross-functionally and act as the internal point-guard in the delivery phase of the RAP to see Hireup build genuine, person-centred programs/products that benefit our Indigenous community.

Priorities - the work

  • Develop and project manage Hireup’s first-ever Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Build cultural knowledge and capability within Hireup HQ to best serve our community
  • Analyse our service model and make recommendations of how Hireup can provide the best customer service to our Indigenous community
  • Engage with the community to understand the way our product could better support the Indigenous community of users
  • Support Hireup in fostering talent pools of prospective casual disability support workers or head office employees
  • Network, build relationships and identify advocates/supporters in the local and broader community

Skills - the person

  • Ability to create meaningful connections with Indigenous Australia
  • An empathetic individual who has a passion for equity and social justice
  • Ability to foster and maintain relationships with community, partners and government
  • Experience in leading initiatives and presenting those to a variety of groups
  • Experience in creating a RAP and/or having worked in a partnerships is ideal but not essential
  • Strong connection to, or interest in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community
  • Approach work with high-energy, drive and internal motivation
  • Exhibit adaptability, resilience, transparency, trustworthiness, passion and innate curiosity

The position is full-time and the salary will be dependent on experience.
