I am looking for an exceptional support worker, to start immediately in a casual position for 2 hours on Tuesdays and Fridays between 4-6pm, to assist me to develop a better life. I need support and encouragement to be more active and interested in life outside my home to extend my connections in the local community.

I am a 50-year-old man with Down syndrome, and I live in Collingwood in my own flat. At the moment my interests are limited to watching DVD’s, finding U tube clips and searching the net although I have done many other things in the past – including playing harmonica in a band.

The support roles are vital for me to be able to stay in my own home and to help me become more involved in things that interest me. You also need to be prepared to do some general cleaning/tidying and simple cooking with me.

• Be willing to take the time to engage with me and ‘hang in there’
• Be committed to making a positive difference in my quality of life
• Be able to engage me in activities and conversation
• Encourage me to walk and be more active
• Involve me in cooking nourishing meals
• Support me to take care of my appearance
• Support me in domestic activities and keeping my home as I want it
• And to provide me with a positive role model

It would be great if you are interested in music and films (DVDs) and have good computer skills! You will need a current drivers licence and access to a car with comprehensive car insurance.
