THE ORGANISATION

As Australia’s peak national organisation for the community HIV and LGBTIQA+ health response, Health Equity Matters supports member organisations working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities, people living with HIV, sex workers, people who use drugs, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through advocacy, policy, and health promotion it leads Australia’s effort to end HIV transmission and promote the health of its communities.

In the Asia Pacific region, Health Equity Matters uses the same strengths to promote effective policy, strengthen local community leadership, and support communities in their work in HIV, health, and human rights.

ABOUT SKPA-2

The SKPA-2 program is a multi-country initiative supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, focused on strengthening the sustainability of HIV responses for key populations in Asia.

Currently, the program is implemented across Malaysia, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, working in partnership with national HIV programs and community-led organisations. It supports activities across HIV prevention, community systems strengthening, and enabling environments.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Programs Officer to provide administrative, coordination, and program support across the SKPA-2 program.

The role supports day-to-day implementation, coordination with subrecipients and partners, and internal program processes, while also taking responsibility for specific tasks and discrete activities to support overall program delivery, as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Officer will be responsible for:

• Support day-to-day coordination of SKPA-2 activities, tracking progress against workplans and timelines
• Maintain program trackers and coordinate inputs from partners and subrecipients across countries
• Support communication, coordination, and reporting with regional partners and stakeholders
• Organise and support meetings, workshops, and regional program activities
• Monitor subrecipient deliverables, follow up on outstanding items, and flag risks or delays
• Assist with Global Fund compliance, documentation, and program risk management
• Support data collection, reporting, and development of program materials and communications
• Assist with consultant coordination, contracts, and deliverables
• Support planning and coordination of in-country visits, meetings, and workshops.
• Provide coordination and administrative support during international program travel where required.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualification in public health, international development, social sciences, or a related field (or near completion).
• Approximately 2–5 years relevant experience (including internships or early-career roles).
• Strong organisational and coordination skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams (or similar collaboration tools).
• Interest in global health and/or international development.

Additional Requirements

• Capacity to travel within South Asia and Southeast Asia region.
• Hold a current and valid passport
