about the program

The Australian School Prepare & Care Natural Disaster Toolkit is a new national initiative delivered to support schools before, during and after natural disasters. Designed to build resilience and preparation in school communities to respond and recover from natural disasters through workshops and prepare and recovery activities.

The National Disaster Preparedness Team Lead will lead a team of consultants delivering the Toolkit across the country. You'll bring the Toolkit to life through practical strategies, build confidence and capability in school communities, and support high-quality delivery, continuous improvement and strong partnerships to maximise impact for young people.

what you'll do

Working in this role, you will:

  • Support the achievement of contract deliverables, ensuring KPIs are met across the team
  • Develop work plans and manage daily activities
  • Onboard and induct new team members
  • Manage a team of consultants including coaching and supervision
  • Drive consistent and high-quality delivery of the Toolkit nationally
  • Support the delivery of tailored resources, training and workshops
  • Build a positive and responsive team culture

In this role, you may engage with young people and families navigating complex mental health and wellbeing concerns, including distressing or sensitive situations. We are committed to supporting our staff through supervision and reflective practice and encourage applicants to consider how this work may impact them personally.

what you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, health and/or relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant leadership experience.
  • A track record of successful program delivery in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training and resource packages.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of education sectors, student health and wellbeing policies, frameworks and programs and youth mental health.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
