About the role

This exciting and diverse position will:

  • Engage young people referred to the service in brief evidence-based person-centred and holistic therapeutic support to young people for up to 10 weeks
  • Create a collaborative care plan that engages with the difficulties the young person is experiencing and supports positive progress through utilising digital resources
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as referring headspace centre across the country

Who we're looking for

headspace is seeking someone with:

  • Essential criteria: Approved tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology, mental health nursing, and occupational therapy, or a Masters in Counselling. Eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body. Social workers are required to be eligible for full membership with AASW. Psychologists, mental health nurses, and occupational therapists are required to have full registration with AHPRA. Those with a Masters in Counselling need to have membership (or be eligible for full professional registration) at a minimum of Level 3 within the Australian Counselling Association scope of practice guidelines.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a mental health setting since full registration, with demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation and short-term treatment interventions.
  • Robust knowledge of the common mental health issues faced by young people, therapeutic interventions for high prevalence disorders (such as CBT for mood and anxiety disorders) and the literature underpinning such approaches.
  • Experience with online service provision, a knowledge and experience in adolescent development, and a broad understanding of the mental health service system in Australia
