About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director Clinical Practice, the Head of Participation & Lived Experience will develop and implement an ambitious vision for their portfolio that seeks to position headspace as a sector leader in driving and implementing youth and family participation and lived experience practices. The role will design a strategy to advance participation at headspace and oversee the implementation of participation initiatives.

We are seeking

A highly motivated, visionary and collaborative leader, who can lead a team of participation and project staff to drive and champion a culture that embeds participation and lived experience across all of headspace's operations.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or a minimum of seven years' experience in relevant roles
  • Highly motivated, creative and innovative leader
  • Extensive experience overseeing, developing and implementing comprehensive and innovative participation programs that value the expertise of those with lived experience
  • Experience in mental health and/or suicide and/or young people including working alongside consumers as partners in improving services
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the youth mental health and / or youth services sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of the lived experience of family who support young people with mental health challenges
  • Extensive experience in developing and leading a team to be innovative and deliver to defined outcomes in a high-pressured environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to operate effectively at a national level with a range of individuals as well as organisational stakeholders across a range of sectors, settings, states, and territories.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing large scale, organisation wide projects
  • A passion for youth mental health and championing opportunities for meaningful lived experience participation

  • Satisfactorily undergo a headspace Police Check
