Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised, national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.

An exciting role exists for an innovative and experienced education qualified professional to support schools through the implementation of the National Education Initiative (NEI) Service. headspace, as the implementation partner, will work with beyondblue to deliver an interactive framework of evidenced-based information, professional advice and support to primary and secondary schools. The National Education Initiative (NEI) Service through continuous professional development of educators will promote optimal social and emotional health and wellness in schools. 

The Education Consultant will demonstrate the NEI framework to prospective and participating schools to assist them to implement tailored processes and develop their staff through ongoing professional development. You will support school communities through promoting mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention with the goal of improving outcomes for young people and their families. Drawing on your considerable knowledge and experience in stakeholder management and working with schools, you will be the key contact for schools in their assigned region in order to build and maintain strong relationships.

headspace is seeking an engaging individual with significant experience in influencing change and working in collaborative partnerships with school leadership teams and/or education authorities with an understanding of youth mental health issues including suicide post-vention, suicide and the impact of trauma on school communities. This position calls for the ability to engage, liaise and interact with a broad range of stakeholders across the national health and education sectors.

This role requires overnight intra state and some interstate travel.
