headspace Lismore (under the direction of the Social Futures) is an innovative youth service, delivering primary and mental health, alcohol and drug services, social welfare and vocational services to young people aged12-25 years. The mandate of headspace Lismore is to provide early intervention and prevention services by responding with evidence based interventions for young people in the local community.
In the role of Community Engagement Officer, you are required to provide health promotion, education and where relevant; training to young people and their families, other health professionals, and the general community regarding physical, mental, and social health of young people aged 12-25 years.
The role includes developing, planning and implementing a communication and community engagement strategy for headspace Lismore. This Community Engagement Officer is responsible for developing a range of education and health promotion activities designed to raise mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by young people, in order to increase early identification and access to appropriate services.
You will be suited to this role if you have a Community development and/or health promotion background with previous experience in youth and stakeholder engagement.
You will be required to consult and work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external partners and understand the importance of relationship building. The role requires an effective ability to engage and communicate to groups of people verbally and in writing. You will be innovative with the competence to think creatively and provide solutions to address different needs within the organisation and community.
