The Haymarket Foundation is a Public Company Limited by Guarantee and is registered with both the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC).

The Foundation is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and governed by a Board of Management, which operates in accordance with the objectives outlined in its constitution. The Haymarket Foundation is funded primarily by Commonwealth and State Governments, complemented by donations from passionate members of the community.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Cleaner and Housekeeping. This position is initially a casual role, but there is potential for it to lead to a permanent part-time position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness throughout our Chippendale crisis accommodation service, offices and Woolloomooloo site. They will ensure a comfortable and inviting environment for our clients and staff. This position requires a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently.

Please note, you would be expected to work between the hours of 9am – 1pm, Monday to Friday. 4 days at Chippendale and 1 day (Friday) at Woolloomooloo.

Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including dusting, wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors at both the Chippendale and Woolloomooloo sites.
  • Clean and sanitise bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and showers at both locations.
  • Ensure all rooms at both sites are well-stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in a proper manner at both facilities. Take bins in and out for collection when you are on duty.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas, such as hallways, lobbies, dining area and lounges at both sites.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor at either location.
  • Follow established cleaning procedures and protocols to maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control at both sites.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Participate in relevant workplace training and team activities.
  • Assist with laundry duties, including washing, drying, and folding linens.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing guest requests and concerns at both locations.
  • Organise cleaning supplies, chemicals, toilet paper, paper towels and any other relevant supplies after delivery. Advise supervisor when more supplies are required or of any additional needs.
  • Assist with routine cleaning in kitchen and storage areas as necessary.

Selection Criteria

  • At least 2 years of commercial cleaning experience is necessary with a high attention to detail.
  • Desirable if you have worked for a Not for Profit or in a complex trauma environment.
  • A sound knowledge of cleaning products and chemicals, and experience in cleaning techniques.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • A passion for cleanliness and order and delivering exceptional service.
  • Honest, trustworthy with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to ensure quality work.
  • Possesses basic IT skills, ie. familiar with Outlook
