About the position
Working closely with the Senior Manager– NDIS & Service Development, the Support Coordinator will:
- Consult and support clients and their families to exercise choice and control, strengthen individual capacity and enhance independence by coordinating and supporting access to informal, mainstream and/or specialist services and supports. This will be achieved by:
- Supporting and assisting clients and their representatives manage and implement their National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans;
- Identifying supports and services that align with individual client goals;
- Engaging and coordinating relevant support and service providers on behalf of clients;
- Ensuring planned supports and services are maintained to a satisfactory standard and followed up as required.
- Support clients to maximise the value of their NDIS Plans in terms of achieving personal goals and financial efficiencies;
- Assist the Senior Manager – NDIS Service and Development in preparing for NDIS planning meetings.
About the successful candidate
- An ability to be flexible and adaptable
- Strong communication skills, including strong written, oral and presentation skills
- Excellent coordination skills, with the ability to plan well and complete tasks in accordance to organisational priorities and project parameters
- Experience in and a sound knowledge of the NDIS, Disability Act and the requirements of a NDIS Support Coordinator including an understanding of individual planning
- An ability to build quality relationships with external service providers and other stakeholders
Essential requirements for the position
- Certificate III in Disability, or higher and/or equivalent experience working in the community sector or a similar field
- A current Australian driving licence
- A WWVP card and First Aid certificate or the ability to obtain
- Personal mobile phone and email address to receive important communications
- Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and possess a NDIS certificate of completion https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/login/index.php
