THE ROLE

The role of Team Leader, Out of Home Care is to provide day to day oversight, leadership, and mentoring to staff working within Family & Community Services Department. The role reports directly to the Manager, Family & Community Services. The role is responsible for providing support and practice guidance to all staff within the team, ensuring that funding targets are met across all the programs and the required reporting is completed for each program to the relevant government and funding bodies.

Programs within the portfolio may include: Kinship Care, Family Violence, Family Services & KPSA. We have had considerable growth and are able to tailor match the successful applicant with a role that suits their expertise and passion !

THE IDEAL PERSON FOR THIS ROLE

Essential

  • Understanding and commitment to Victorian Aboriginal culture and the concept and practice of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
  • Thorough understanding and appropriate training in MARAM, and Nargneit Birrang.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals in culturally appropriate ways
    • Demonstrated strong and effective leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and support staff and provide feedback and performance management
    • An ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, characterised by co-operation, trust and mutual respect
    • Well-developed written communication skills and intermediate level computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
    • Time management skills, including ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, work to deadlines, manage interruptions and adapt to changing priorities
    • Extensive case management experience, practice frameworks and models relevant to working with vulnerable families.
    • Knowledge of services and interventions that promote child health, safety and wellbeing, strengthen parenting capacity, improve family functioning and address underlying factors for vulnerable families.
    • Possession of a minimum diploma level qualification in Community Services or other relevant qualifications
    • Ability to lead change management as required.

    Desirable

    • Relevant qualification.
    • Experience in working in a not-for-profit organisation, or health setting.
