Client Services Officer / Medical Receptionist

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT

The Centre for Eye Health (CFEH) is an initiative of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and The University of New South Wales. The Centre exists to help reduce preventable vision loss from eye disease through early detection. To do this, the Centre provides advanced ocular imaging, diagnostic, and management services at no cost to patients in New South Wales.

As a Client Services Officer, you will be the primary point of contact for people to interact with the Centre. Your excellent customer service skills will help make everyone feel welcome, and you will provide high quality support to our clients, our referring practitioners, and the team based at our UNSW Kensington clinic.

A little more information on some of the things you will be doing:

  • Providing a warm and professional welcome to clients and visitors of our clinic
  • Liaising with our clients and referring practitioners by email and phone
  • Maintaining confidential client records, medical records, organising appointments, and bulk billing clients at the conclusion of their appointment
  • Providing support to the clinical team when required, including organisation of client paperwork, the client areas, and waiting room
  • Supporting other members of the Client Services team, working across 7 hour shifts starting from 8:30am and ending by 5:30pm Monday-Friday.

About you:

Ideally you have previously worked in a similar environment like a medical reception or optometry reception, however we would love the opportunity to train you if you haven’t. You are friendly and approachable, and happy to help out where needed. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, a good telephone manner, and strong attention to detail. You have customer service experience and are confident using Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using electronic medical record software or healthcare clinic software would be an advantage but isn’t required.

Why work with us?

You’ll be working at a place where everyone is welcome – an organisation that believes that a creative and productive workplace depends on having a diverse range of experiences, perspectives and abilities. Your colleagues and peers all understand their part in our mission - to empower people with low vision or blindness.

The successful candidate will have access to the following benefits:

  • PBI salary packaging;
  • Salary Continuance Insurance;
  • Generous leave conditions including Paid Parental Leave and Purchased Leave, wellness days; and
