Good Samaritan Inn (GSI) provides crisis and short-term accommodation, and specialist supports to women ( i.e. trans and cisgender women), non-binary, and gender diverse people, including children and young people who have experienced family violence and homelessness. GSI delivers person-centred, feminist and trauma-informed services and programs that address immediate needs.
GSI also provides outreach support to victim-survivors living in the community, ensuring safety, connection, and engagement with local and specialist services. Through an innovative coaching and employment program, GSI builds skills and capacity, empowering individuals to achieve economic independence and rebuild their sense of self and future.
GSI is in the process of expanding their specialist family violence services to include a longer-term accommodation response to assist women, children and young people to re-establish themselves in the community following the family violence crisis phase. The focus of this new accommodation and service model is to provide a healing and recovery response for victim survivors with a range of complex needs.
Women in Work is the employment and coaching program with GSI focused on finding employment and supporting recovery for women who have experienced family violence. Our purpose is to help women build a thriving sense of self and generate a sustainable and safe future beyond their experiences of family violence and trauma.
The coaching program has been designed using EMPath, a world-wide Economic Mobility Pathways Model, with a family violence lens. Family Violence specialists deliver the coaching program and work on building the participants' skills and resilience to address barriers to their healing and recovery. By providing women who have experienced family violence with employment and coaching, Women in Work helps break the cycle of family violence and help women on their road to self-sufficiency.
The Family Violence Coach supports survivors on their journey of healing and empowerment, helping them rebuild their sense of self and plan for their future. This model works with victim survivors ready to move from intensive case management toward a support model that promotes independence. The coach works in partnership with women who have experienced family violence to set and reach goals across pillars of wellbeing, housing, finance and employment. The coach will deliver coaching as part of GSI's employment and coaching program - Women in Work.
