ABOUT THE ROLE

The Richmond Campaign is seeking two skilled, energetic and experienced Campaign Assistants to support candidate Mandy Nolan’s campaign for the marginal and winnable Federal seat of Richmond. The Campaign Assistants will support the Campaign Manager to develop and deliver on a high quality, innovative and research-supported campaign strategy - including communications, fundraising, field activities and staffing requirements. There is the opportunity to adapt the specific responsibilities of each Campaign Assistant role depending on the skillset of the successful applicant and the needs of the Campaign Team. The Campaign Assistant will work closely with the Campaign Manager and other team members, and will be responsible for engaging our passionate volunteer base.

The Campaign Assistant is a dynamic role that would suit someone with experience in electoral or political campaigning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Campaign Assistant will work closely with the Richmond Campaign Committee and the Campaign Manager to assist with the Richmond Campaign. Primary tasks may include field campaigning, volunteer coordination, candidate support, communications, media, events and fundraising. There is the opportunity to adapt the role depending on the needs of our growing team and the successful candidate’s skillset and experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Support the campaign manager to deliver the campaign strategy
  2. Support events both face-to-face and online
  3. Assist with incoming and general enquiries
  4. General assistance with Social Media and other Communications
  5. Assistance with weekly field tasks e.g. trainings, doorknocking, phonebanking, volunteer coordination
  6. Other duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Campaign Assistant is expected to demonstrate:

  1. Experience in political campaigning (electoral or issues-based)
  2. Understanding of political issues in NSW and the Richmond electorate.
  3. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  4. Excellent organisational skills in managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  5. Demonstrated emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills and resilience.
  6. An understanding of the Greens and support for the party’s principles, policies, and decision-making processes.
  7. Basic computer skills including google drive/microsoft office.
  8. Hold a valid NSW Drivers Licence.
  9. Hold or willing to obtain a current working with children check.
  10. Evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.

The Campaign Assistant may also demonstrate:

  1. Experience leading a field campaign
  2. Proficiency in NationBuilder software
  3. Communications and media skills.
  4. Experience planning and managing events
  5. Experience developing issues based campaigns
  6. Experience with community advocacy and engagement
  7. Advanced skills in Google Suite, MS Office, social media platforms.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $85, 219.47 FTE p.a pro rata. + 12% superannuation.
  • Primary Location: Work-from-home, with travel around the Richmond electorate.
  • Hours: 21 per week. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
  • Status: Part-time fixed contract until one month after the 2024/5 Federal Election.
  • Position begins: February and March 2024
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
