About the role

The primary focus of the Electorate Officer is to be the initial point of contact for all constituent enquiries and provide administrative support to the Member, ensuring the efficient operation of the electorate office. The Electorate Officer will also be involved in supporting projects focused on communication, outreach and community engagement in line with the priorities of the office.

This position is full-time, initially for up to 6 months. Subject to satisfactory performance, the role may then convert to an ongoing employment contract with the support of the Member.

This recruitment will also be used to establish an eligibility list for short-term relief and causal project work in our electorate office. Applicants interested in part-time or casual work should indicate this in their application.

Total remuneration package includes salary ($69,761 pa – $79,345 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and leave loading. Salary includes an all incidence allowance of $6,562 per annum.

Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the core principles of the Greens and an interest in, and understanding of, the Australian and NSW political context and processes
  2. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work respectfully for and with individuals, community groups, government and non-government organisations, and the media.
  3. Excellent writing, research and analytical skills including the ability to prepare correspondence, briefing notes, submissions, speeches, newsletters, emails, media releases and review policy and legislation.
  4. Demonstrated superior organisational skills to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement and ability to perform at a high standard under limited supervision and within a team environment.
  6. Good word processing/keyboard and computer skills in an office environment and competency in use of social media, databases, websites and digital communication tools.
  7. Experience working with volunteers.
