ABOUT THE GREENS NSW
The Greens Party movement is based on the four pillars of social equity and economic justice, ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy, and peace, nonviolence and disarmament. Greens parties across the world share these same principles and values.
The Greens NSW has 62 local groups across NSW. We currently have 61 elected Councillors, four Members of Parliament in the Upper House and three in the Lower House in NSW Parliament. In the Federal Parliament, the Greens have eleven Senators and four Lower House MP’s.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Greens NSW is seeking two skilled, energetic and experienced Organisers to support local government campaigns across NSW.
The Organisers will work closely with the Campaign Manager and other team members, and will be responsible for engaging our passionate local government campaign teams and volunteer base.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Campaign Organiser is responsible primarily for supporting Greens local government campaign teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and motivating local government campaign teams to run effective campaigns.
- Assist local campaigns to achieve key milestones as directed by the Campaign Manager.
- Campaigning using a variety of engagement strategies.
- Under the direction of the Campaign Manager, plan and organise events, launches, training sessions, candidate briefings and other campaign activities.
- Supporting local volunteers to campaign and use systems to run voter contact and volunteer recruitment campaigns.
- Overseeing data management and facilitating onboarding of new supporters and volunteers.
- Organising and running training sessions with campaigners and volunteers in our online systems.
- Building volunteer teams to run an electorate wide community survey and door-knocking campaign.
- Ensuring the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Any other tasks as directed.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The Campaign Organiser is expected to meet the following essential requirements:
- A commitment to the Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles.
- Excellent organisational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and an ability to work to campaign deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively with a busy and energetic team of paid staff and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to upskill, support and delegate to other employees and volunteers on the campaign.
- Experience presenting training one-to-one as well as to larger groups.
- A good understanding of the importance of data management in campaigning.
- Experience in documentation development.
- Experience with online contact management systems.
- Excellent IT skills including email, internet, Microsoft Office and web-based applications and an ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets.
- Understanding on NSW and Australian political issues and the political system.
- Experience working or volunteering to support an election, social justice, environment and/or community campaign.
- Essential: A current Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one in the first month of employment.
Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.
Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.
PAY AND CONDITIONS
- Salary: $85,219.47 FTE p.a pro rata. + 12% superannuation.
- Primary Location: The Greens NSW Office in Camperdown.
- Hours: 28 per week. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
- Status: Part-time fixed term contract until 14 September 2024
- Position begins: March 2024
