The Greens NSW is seeking a Campaign Assistant to help Ku-ring-gai Greens deliver a successful Federal election campaign. The person will provide support to the Campaign Convenor, candidate and committee by delivering on assigned tasks. All tasks and activities will be delivered in line with Greens NSW election campaign goals, namely:

  • Increasing the Greens’ vote in the electorate and strengthening the Upper House vote.
  • Building the movement i.e. supporting the member and supporter base and strengthening skills and campaigning capabilities among members and supporters.

The Greens Party movement is based on the four pillars of social equity and economic justice, ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy, and peace, nonviolence and disarmament. Greens parties across the world share these same principles and values.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will work closely with the Bradfield Campaign Convenor to coordinate key events and help the raise the Greens’ profile.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Help develop and support the Bradfield Federal election campaign
  • Participate in group meetings and campaign committee meetings and work cooperatively with all members.
  • Assist with the following tasks:
    • Organise letter drops, stalls, handing out of materials at train stations and other locations, door knocking and voter phone calling in the electorates.
    • Assist in planning of and preparation of booth kits.
    • Coordinate polling booth coverage and assist in the distribution of How to Vote cards to members at polling booths or via letterboxing.
    • Organise training for candidates, members and supporters (i.e. in phone calling, ROCkET, media etc.) in cooperation with the campaign committee and, where appropriate, The Greens NSW.
    • Following the election, ensure all activities are properly documented and materials filed, and assist in providing analysis of the election outcome.
  • Other projects and tasks as directed by the Campaign Convenor.

*A number of these activities may not take place due to COVID or may be limited by budgetary constraints.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Bradfield Campaign Assistant must meet the following essential requirements:

  • A commitment to The Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and an ability to work to campaign deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively with a team of volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including email, internet, Microsoft Office, and web-based applications and an ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets.
  • Experience working or volunteering to support an election, social justice, environment, and/ or community campaign. 
  • Essential: A current NSW Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one within the first week.
  • Preferably, experience with the Greens online systems (CiviCRM, Rocket, gVIRS). 
  • Desirable: a current NSW driver licence.

Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $39.05 p/hr - $71,079.44 pro rata plus 10.5% superannuation
  • Primary Location: Working from home or from the Campaign Convenors home.
  • Hours: 14 hrs a week role expanding to 28 hrs a week in the final fortnight of the campaign.
  • Status: Part-time, Fixed-term
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement
