Campaigner - East Coast

Greenpeace Australia Pacific

Get ready to join the fight for a greener, more peaceful world with Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP)! As an independent campaigning organisation, we creatively and peacefully shine a light on the urgent environmental challenges facing our planet. We don’t shy away from the tough issues, exposing global environmental problems, and developing solutions for a green and peaceful future.

THE ROLE

Are you ready to take on the fossil fuel order by leading campaigns for climate action across Australia?

As a multi-talented generalist, you'll craft, coordinate, and execute strategies, campaigns, and projects that tackle the urgent climate crisis head-on. Harnessing Greenpeace's influence, you'll inspire decision-makers to shift gears towards real solutions, and mobilise our supporters to resist the companies who profit from the destruction of our planet.

This is a role for a genuine all-rounder, with a solid understanding of climate policy, campaigning, media and politics.

Your mission? To inject creativity and leadership into every campaign, ensuring they captivate and mobilise audiences with dynamism and ambition. You'll drive effective communication strategies, rallying masses to champion our cause and expand Greenpeace's impact in line with GPAP's key objectives. Ready to lead the charge towards a greener, brighter future?

THE TEAM

As a climate campaigner at Greenpeace, you will work with our Climate and Energy team on campaigns to phase out fossil fuels and to increase both Australia’s emissions reduction ambition and commitments to climate justice. The team is currently taking on Australia’s biggest climate threat, Woodside’s toxic Burrup Hub gas project in Western Australia, which you will also work on as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will embody a blend of strategic prowess and intellectual agility. You'll delve deep into dynamic scientific, social, and political realms, navigating legal landscapes with ease. Problem-solving is second nature to you, as you craft clear, concise solutions that resonate across diverse audiences. Your knack for adaptive communication is matched only by your proven copywriting finesse. With a track record in both online and offline campaigns, you understand the intricate dance of digital engagement and physical mobilisation - from building online communities to mastering social media, you're well-versed in the nuances of branding, design, and user experience.

Risk assessment and budgeting are not just checkboxes but integral components of your skill set. You excel in presenting and reporting, wielding data-driven insights to drive action. With an innate ability to identify intervention points, you're poised to achieve tangible outcomes.

In addition you will have the following:

  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar or related role
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a Campaigns / Organising role
  • At least two (2) years experience in project management
  • Experience in the development of winning strategy
  • Proven experience in speaking to the public and media
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Salesforce, and an array of social and marketing tools

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • A role with one of the most well-known brands in the environmental NGO space, and the strength of 50 years of Greenpeace behind you;
  • A great work-life balance including 35 hour work week, integrity framework and generous leave conditions (including an additional week of paid leave between Christmas and New Year);

Annual full-time salary: $91,080.39 + 11% superannuation per annum.
