What’s your purpose?
The Finance and Compliance Officer is an integral & key role in the Finance team reporting to the Finance & People Lead. This role is responsible for the provision of managing and maintaining day to day finance/accounting activities, reporting and monitoring expenses, preparation of reports, assisting in the development of the forecasts and budgets, ensuring compliance activities are completed, preparation of fortnightly payroll and providing support to the Establishment and Operations teams.
What will you be doing, in summary?
- Supporting the business in achieving its strategic goals through the provision of accurate and timely reporting to management of changes to regulatory/compliance environments and/or financial changes
- Assist in the preparation of adhoc reports, management reports, board reports, audit support etc
- Provide timely and accurate analysis to the Finance & People Lead
- Prepare and process all activities related to Payroll, tax, superannuation, insurances, fortnightly and monthly reporting, monitoring of leave reports etc
- Managing and delivering daily end to end accounting processes, reconciliations, invoicing, payments, banking
- Completion of weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
- Assist in the preparation of the budgeting and forecasting process
- Assist in the audit activities
- Maintain the asset register
- Ensure compliance with Grameen’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements at all times, including OH&S, EEO, AML/CTF, KYC
- Understand risk environment and ensure appropriate risk mitigants where required
- Look for opportunities to continuously improve processes or workflows
What skills and abilities will you bring us?
- Degree in (or working towards) accounting, finance
- Work experience in accounting/finance/bookkeeping/payroll/compliance role
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping, administrative and accounting principles for a growing not-for-profit microfinance business
- Experience with MS Office products (excel, word, powerpoint) and Xero
- Strong demonstrated attention to detail, meeting deadlines and accuracy and the ability to solve finance-based problems
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and meet compliance obligations
- Strong communication skills and ability to analyse data and communicate outcomes
- Desire to be part of an evolving and fast growing organisation and hence propensity to be flexible and adaptable
- Ability to articulate relevant budgeting and financial processes to others
- Demonstrated ability to work through others and work as part of a team
- Self driven, self regulated and proactive with a results orientation
