Gould League www.gould.org.au is an independent not-for-profit environmental charity who have pioneered and influenced environmental education in Australia for over 110 years. We run incursion and excursion programs for schools (K-12) all linked to the Victorian curriculum. We also deliver community programs and PD for Teachers as well as produce resources such as curriculum guides, educational books and posters. Gould League was initially devoted to bird protection and education, however we moved into broader sustainability issues in the 1960s and 70s. Our programs now address water, waste, energy use, biodiversity, earth science, biology, climate change, circular economy and more. We currently deliver around 30 different educational programs for people of all ages to learn in, about and for the environment.
Our excursion programs are delivered at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary, Toolangi State Forest and our Cheltenham Sustainability Education Centre with incursion programs delivered to schools across Greater Melbourne. Opportunities will soon also exist for delivery into regional Victoria.
Our Educators are the life blood of the organisation, responsible for the delivery of high quality and engaging education programs linked to the Victorian Curriculum. Flexible, knowledgeable and dynamic staff in this role will ensure high satisfaction from visiting teachers and strong levels of engagement from students.
We aim to recruit 6 new casual Educators to work across our 3 sites - Sustainability Education Centre in Cheltenham, Toolangi State Forest, Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary in Beaumaris and deliver incursions to Greater Melbourne pre-schools and schools. Strong preference for candidates who can teach across multiple locations. Not essential but preference is given to appropriately qualified local Taungurung people as traditional owners of the Kulin nation for our Toolangi Forest programs.
Position Reports to: General Manager although most day to day liaison is with our Bookings Manager.
On the job training provided supported by workbooks, training manuals and program guides with ongoing PD.
