The Role 

We’re looking for a passionate Work Health & Safety (WHS) Lead to drive a culture of safety, care, and continuous improvement across our not-for-profit organisation. 

In this role, you’ll lead the development and ongoing enhancement of a risk-based Wellbeing, Health, and Safety framework. You’ll provide expert advice to managers, strengthen WHS systems, and promote proactive risk management throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead WHS Strategy: Develop, implement, and enhance our Work Health and Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with sector-specific legislation and standards.
  • Risk System Oversight: Manage and optimise our use of RiskMan (a risk incident reporting platform) to track incidents, hazards, and corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigation: Take lead through investigations into injuries, near misses, and safety concerns, ensuring root cause analysis and effective follow-up.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with staff, volunteers, and leadership to embed a proactive safety culture across diverse service areas.
  • Training & Education: Deliver engaging WHS training and resources tailored to the unique needs of the not-for-profit environment.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Conduct audits, maintain documentation, develop and deliver statistical reports that provides clear, actionable reports to senior management and regulatory bodies. 

About You 

You're an experienced Work Health & Safety leader with a strong track record in multi-sector environments and a passion for social impact.

You’re a strategic and hands-on WHS professional who thrives on building safe, supportive, and compliant workplaces. With a strong understanding of risk management and a collaborative mindset, you’re ready to lead safety initiatives that make a real impact. 

You bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational/Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in a WHS management role.
  • Possess a strong understanding of current work health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices across various states and territories.
  • Ability to influence and lead a culture of excellence in safety and compliance.
  • Expertise in the management of Workers Compensation and Injury Management programs with sustainable return to work programs.
  • A collaborative, values-driven approach to safety leadership.

Desirable: 

  • Experience in not-for-profit or social services sectors.
