Program Overview

The Serious Risk Program (SRP) – Delivered by Good Shepherd in partnership with Peninsula Health, is a two-year pilot and is one of three funded pilot programs in Victoria focusing on broadening the suite of perpetrator interventions to include a focused response for serious-risk perpetrators.

The SRP aims to reduce the impact and incidence of family violence on current and former partners and family members, as well as reducing the likelihood that a perpetrator will harm future partners and family members.  

The serious-risk program aims to provide an intensive response to:  increase the safety of victim survivors – reducing the use and impact of family violence on former, current, or future partners and family members of perpetrators who pose a serious risk tailor interventions that directly engage the adult using family violence who poses a serious risk, using multiple approaches to support them to take responsibility for stopping their family violence better coordinate across the service system so that serious-risk adults using family violence become and remain in view of services, and their use of violence and risk can be collaboratively addressed build evidence of what works to respond to serious-risk adults using family violence.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess suitable clients for the Serious Risk Program Undertake MARAM comprehensive risk assessment, needs assessment, safety planning and case planning with women and children.
  • Work in partnership with families to develop and regularly review individual case and safety plans, ensuring clients are actively engaged in all decision making and planning.
  • Work in partnership with families to empower and assist clients in the healing and recovery Coordinate and integrate service responses with Peninsula Health’s Comprehensive CaseManagement Practitioner and the Emergency Department Crisis Hub team.
  • Deliver high quality assertive outreach case management services to women and children who have experienced or are experiencing family violence through trauma informed, systems and developmental Facilitate a multi-disciplinary team approach, providing a collaborative and holistic response for women and children impacted by family violence, working towards identified
  • Work within the MARAM framework and the FVISS/CISS information sharing
  • Manage serious risk cases and refer to the high-risk panel as Demonstrate a compliance to the Child Safe Participate in statewide forums to develop the Serious Risk Program
  • Prepare reports and other written documentation such as minutes, housing, and funding applications, correspondence etc. to meet professional standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
