About the role

Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand is seeking a compassionate and capable Program Support Worker to join our Family Violence Services team. Based at our emergency accommodation property, this role plays a vital part in delivering a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based response to women and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

You will support the daily operations of the site and collaborate closely with our case management and therapeutic teams to help clients achieve their goals. The role includes both individual and group support, transport, administrative tasks, and assistance with maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and delivery of activities tailored to client needs
  • Assist women and young people in achieving case plan goals
  • Provide emotional and practical support in a trauma-informed manner
  • Facilitate transport to appointments and access to services
  • Support clients with daily living and life skills
  • Complete site inductions and maintain a welcoming, safe environment
  • Monitor site safety, complete light cleaning and room set-up
  • Report maintenance issues and manage inventory and stock ordering
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with quality and compliance standards
  • Support the broader team in administrative tasks and operational duties
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing development opportunities

Key Selection Criteria

  • A demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice and principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage respectfully with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to carry out a range of practical and administrative tasks, including prioritisation under pressure
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team  

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Diploma in Community Services or equivalent
  • Experience working in the family violence or community services sector (desirable)Knowledge or training in the MARAM Framework (highly regarded)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Current Victorian driver’s licenceFirst Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Willingness to undertake shift work (including after-hours and weekends)
  • Working with Children Check (Employee)
  • National Police Check
  • Australian working rights
