Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant/Finance Officer is responsible for preparing monthly workpapers and reconciliations for the preparation of financial statements and reports. The ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST & accounting software. You will work closely with our clients to create and monitor their budgets. You will provide commentary, analysis, and guidance to our clients on their financial reports. You will assist and work with the data entry team to ensure that coding and reporting is accurate and informative.
You will also be required to work solely and exclusively for our firm.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepare accounts reconciliations and workpapers
- Prepare Monthly Reports
- Assist with Budgets
- Prepare Financial Statements for a range of entities
- Understand the flow of accounting transactions up to financial statements level
- Have a good understanding of the ATO portal and its use
- Liaise with accountants (internal & external)
- Review the work of the Junior and Intermediate Bookkeepers & Accountants
- Calculate and post manual journals
- Review activity statements (BAS/IAS)
Software Knowledge:
- Accounting Software - Xero preferred
- Microsoft Office especially Excel
- Xero XPM (not essential)
- Asana (not essential)
- ATO Online Services (not essential)
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years in an Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper or Finance Officer role
- Minimum Cert IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent required
- CPA or CA qualification is desirable but not a necessity
- Good understanding of GST laws and preparation of BAS and IAS
- Experience with budgeting and reporting to budget
- Previous experience with Not-for-Profit entities would be an advantage
- Experience in Payroll Processing would be an advantage but not essential
