To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a passionate and motivated Environment and Sustainability leader.

This role will provide you the opportunity to:

  • Provide leadership and coordinate the activities and functions of Environment and Sustainability team
  • Develop and implement programs and strategies which pursue Golden Plains Shire’s objectives for Natural Resource Management, Sustainability, Waste
  • To coordinate partnerships, programs and the positions of Council to respond to the climate emergency and create a more environmentally healthy and sustainable Shire.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in natural resource management, environmental science or a related discipline coupled with significant experience at a leadership level;
  • Ability to accurately interpret relevant legislation, regulations, Government and Council policies;
  • Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of polices and projects;
  • Substantial relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: natural resource management, sustainability and waste management or significant transferrable experience in delivering the functions of this role;
  • Ability to liaise with staff, Council, consultants, Courts and tribunals/panels on specialist matters;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate a diverse, customer responsive team and project team;
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, problem solving, presentation skills and strategic thinking.
