THE OPPORTUNITY

The Marketing team is a service provider to the entire Institute. We provide crucial support to helping teams within the Foundation to achieve their supporter acquisition, engagement, retention and conversion objectives and income targets. We support laboratories and executive and professional teams outside the Foundation with marketing needs.

Sitting within the Marketing team, the key purpose and core responsibility of the Digital Officer is to update and add additional content, maintain and continually improve Garvan's website, in alignment with the brand strategy to drive awareness of Garvan, whilst working with internal key stakeholders that the content demonstrates our scientific excellence, increase understanding of what we do and will increase support for our research.

Salary: $85,000 + 11% super + salary packaging
Employment Type: Full time permanent

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Digital Officer is a dynamic role, primarily responsible for maintaining the day to day responsibilities of Garvan's website, facilitating accurate website GA4 tracking and reporting, and providing recommendations for data-driven optimisations across our digital marketing channels.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Manage, maintain and improve the Garvan website via our CMS (Content Stack) ensuring an optimum user experience.
  • Advise on best practice in website functionality and design to improve user experience.
  • Use data-driven (GA4) insights to increase UX and user engagement metrics on the Garvan website.
  • Collate monthly reports on agreed website engagement KPIs and share learnings, including 'stop, start, continue' recommendations across GRF and the wider institute.
  • Assist internal key stakeholders with our digital agency to leverage our Google Grants and paid account for 'always on' and paid search campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively and assist with the various stakeholders across GRF and the wider Institute to develop engaging data-driven web content, including but not limited to campaign landing pages, research pages and other GRF content.
  • Liaise with Garvan's key stakeholders (internal and key suppliers) and work with them to resolve any issues or queries.
  • Knowledge of best practice in SEO and content for web pages.
  • Oversee that digital campaigns of the relevant UTM tracking across the GRF to feed into our GA4 account for accurate campaign metrics and tracking.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to build out a multi-year digital website strategy.

ABOUT YOU

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Advertising, Communications or related discipline.

The key skills and experience include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a digital marketing or digital communications role.
  • Demonstrated experience in using and maintaining websites.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to be a flexible team player while also being able to work independently.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong experience with digital reporting tools such as Google Analytics 4.
  • Experience with search advertising, campaign management and UX principles.
  • Strong knowledge of CMS (ContentStack or similar) systems and other professional digital software.
  • Experience in non-profit organisations would be advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and eye for detail.
  • Professional interpersonal skills and presentation.
  • Innovative, creative and lateral thinking with an ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
